READY FOR A NEW STORY?
Choose your own adventure
If your story is anything like ours, you grew up thinking that the world would be your oyster. You believed you could do anything, be anyone you wanted.
But as life’s unfolded, some really shitty-grit has gone down. All kinds of murky, messy moments you never saw coming. Leaving you lost-at-sea more times than you can count. You thought that life would be juicier, more joyful than its turned out to be at times. So you tried harder. Contorted yourself to fit in. Followed the rules. Deferred to others.
Now, you’re discovering a truth that’s surfacing from deep inside you.
You’re craving a new story. A new way of living that brings you to life. With unbridled joy, sparkling aliveness, unveiled passion. You’re ready to find your wildness, feel your fullness, follow your heart, flourish with power. The freedom to be all of you.
If this is your story, and you’re ready to choose your own adventure, then you’re an Oyster Sister too.

WE'VE INSPIRED EACH OTHER TO RISE
Now it's your turn.

Let's get real.
The world is full of amazing women holding up placards and sharing platitudes that are all about inspiring others to live their best lives.
What’s our story?
We three have spent the last two decades coaching, championing and cheerleading for change for women globally. We’ve each enjoyed some interesting adventures and struggled through dark nights of the soul.
Between us, we’ve got 60 years of insights, early starts and sleepless nights. Not to mention, a pretty impressive list of achievements, accolades, awards and “been there, done thats”.
Now, we’ve come together. And we’re ready to go deep by sharing our real and raw stories and our hard-won wisdom in some radically new ways.
We’re inviting you to dive deep with us. We’re here to coach, champion and cheerlead as you change your story.
COME WITH US TO FIND YOURSELF
Discover our magical formula
One wild and woolly weekend in the winter of 2020, while sitting around a campfire drinking wine, eating jaffles, sharing soul-truths and shedding tears, we found the spark of inspiration for The Oyster Sisters.
We’re friends who came together in a rather magical way. And we’ve discovered an equally magical formula for soul-growth, deep connections and adventure-filled lives that we’re excited to share with you.

Mia Handshin
Mia is a visionary leader, heart-powered speaker and “human-pattern-interrupter” with a gift for sparking life-changing insights, unearthing true brilliance in others, and illuminating new ways of living and leading.
With a background in law, for over 30 years Mia has been a passionate champion for change at the highest levels globally including for the rights of children at UNESCO’s General Assembly, as an intern for the International Crisis Group during the Iraq war and, closer to home, advocating for Australian constitutional reform.
For a decade, Mia was a newspaper columnist reaching audiences of up to 200,000 readers each week. In 2007 she ran for election to Parliament and came close to winning a safe seat from a high-profile Minister.
In addition to being the youngest female Chair of the South Australian EPA, Mia is known as a “wonder with words” and “queen of questions”. She’s an in-demand leadership facilitator and coach who’s currently contending with her very own “Brady Bunch” situation whilst attempting to write her first book.

Taryn Brumfitt
Taryn is an award-winning filmmaker, bestselling author and internationally sought-after keynote speaker. Named Australian of the Year in 2023, she is a fiercely passionate advocate for social change whose message has reached more than 200 million people across the globe.

Taryn has delivered more than 250 keynote addresses, including the National Press Club, Pinterest, SXSW, Google HQ and Harvard University. She was named as General Electric’s highest-rated speaker.
Taryn was recently invited by the President of the United States to attend a State Dinner at the White House. Her Mum assumed the invitation was a scam – it wasn’t.

Dr Gemma Munro
Dr Gemma Munro is an award-winning speaker and coach, and has ignited courage and change in workplaces across the planet. With a PhD in performance psychology, Gemma has inspired over 77,000 people worldwide to find their purpose, let go of fear, and harness the courage to shine.
Gemma has spoken to global audiences at Google, Amazon, Qantas, Vodafone, PayPal and the NHS in London, and her keynote at Google headquarters in Silicon Valley was live-streamed to every Google office on the planet.
Called a ‘human alarm clock’ and a ‘lightning bolt of love’ by audiences, Gemma is a winner of the Duncan Trust Prize for speaking and a two-time Telstra Businesswoman of the Year finalist.
As a classically trained singer, Gemma has performed in Westminster Abbey, Radio City Music Hall and, somewhat heart-stoppingly, to 53,000 screaming fans as a backing vocalist for the Rolling Stones. As an everyday human, she experiences difficulty following IKEA manuals and returning tupperware to its rightful owner.
Why Oysters?
Transformative power
It was over martinis in Gemma’s backyard, while tangling with what we’d call ourselves, when Gemma first floated the idea of oysters. Taz’s tummy turned at the thought of them, but Mia had a gut-feeling that we could own the powerful symbolism. We may not all love eating them, but oysters turn the grit of the ocean into something truly beautiful.
Their wobbly-bits may seem ugly and messy but they’re a delicacy (to many!) and known for unleashing passion in those who consume them. Oh, and they fuse together as they grow, creating a safe habitat for others to thrive. Oysters hold a magical formula for deep-down, inside-out transformation. Plus, they’re a shucking great reminder that we don’t have to be loved by everyone, all the time, in order to be treasured by some.
